Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles delivered a stern message at a recent ceremony in Negombo, vowing to eliminate all underworld groups and drug distribution networks in Sri Lanka by the end of this June.
Alles asserted that Operation Yukthiya, the ongoing anti-drug campaign, will continue unabated despite any external pressure.
Meanwhile, Acting Inspector General of Police Desahbandu Tennakoon emphasized the effectiveness of the operation, noting a significant rise in drug prices across the country.
This price hike suggests a disruption in supply chains, indicating a potential success of Yukthiya in curbing drug distribution.
Tennakoon also assured swift action in confiscating the assets of drug traffickers.
