The police have arrested a man for allegedly sending death threats to the Chief Incumbent of Mihintale Rajamaha Viharaya, Most Ven. Walawahengunawewa Dhammarathana Thero, and attempting to extort money.
The 51-year-old suspect had sought to extort Rs. 10 million from the monk.
The arrest was made by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
