Sri Lanka’s national women’s team captain Chamari Athapaththu was rewarded for her exploits last year, being named the ICC’s Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year.
The opener scored 415 runs in eight ODIs last year, playing a significant role in her team’s successes.
As captain Athpaththu led Sri Lanka to their first-ever victory over New Zealand, across formats, and then recorded the country's first-ever series win over the opposition.
The bulk of her runs last year came in that series, as she scored 248 in three innings at an eye-watering average of 248.
That success came after Sri Lanka Women edged Bangladesh Women 1-0 earlier in the year.
Athapaththu then led her team on a tour of England, and despite winning the T20I series, the first time Sri Lanka had won a series against the Englishwomen, lost the ODI Series 2-0.
