The residence of the daughter of ex-President Maithripala Sirisena, located in Wickremesinghepura, Battaramulla, fell victim to a burglary, resulting in the loss of valuable items valued at nearly Rs. 3 million, Police said
The stolen items included Rs. 150,000 in cash, a gold-plated camel statue, a smartwatch, eight gold-plated Singapore coins, dry foods, and a school bag. The discovery of the break-in was made by the husband of the former President's daughter, a businessman, upon his return to the residence. He promptly reported the incident to the police.
A senior police officer said that, according to the husband's complaint, the burglars gained access by breaking into the kitchen through a glass door.
