Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka emphasized the importance of the Yukthiya operation being directed towards apprehending the main drug dealers in the country, rather than becoming a theatrical endeavor. Speaking to journalists, he expressed his concern that arresting numerous ordinary individuals without targeting the primary drug traffickers would render the operation ineffective.
Field Marshal Fonseka asserted that the success of the Yukthiya Operation hinges on the apprehension of major drug traffickers, warning that failure to do so would turn it into a mere spectacle. He further cautioned Acting IGP Deshabandu Tennekoon, stating that the operation's credibility could be compromised if it is perceived as a theatrical event.
In addition, Field Marshal Fonseka highlighted the importance of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) staying on the right track to win the hearts of the people. He advised the SJB to carefully scrutinize individuals it considers accepting into its fold, suggesting that the party prioritize internal evaluations rather than extending invitations to individuals from other parties.
