The Fort Magistrate’s Court has granted detention orders for the 11 individuals arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy aboard two trawlers, found in possession of 65 kilograms of heroin off the Southern coast.
The Magistrate ordered the police to detained the suspects for 7-day detention for further investigation.
The suspects were arrested during special operation conducted off Dondra Head in southern waters on Saturday (20).
The operation not only resulted in the seizure of a local multi-day fishing trawler carrying over 65kg of heroin but also the apprehension of another multi-day fishing trawler suspected of aiding in the illicit activity.
