The Galle Police have apprehended a 61-year-old specialist doctor at Karapitiya Teaching Hospital following allegations of assaulting a female hospital staffer. The incident occurred amid a contentious situation on the hospital premises.
The accused doctor, a Senior Oncologist, is presently under police custody and receiving medical care at a private hospital.
The arrest stems from a reported altercation on Wednesday morning, during which the specialist allegedly assaulted the staff member. Ongoing investigations are in progress.
