Investigations are underway to arret the electoral organizer of a leading political party on suspicion of committing a fraud amounting to Rs. 20 million. The individual is accused of deceiving several young men by promising them employment in foreign countries and unlawfully obtaining money from them.
The victims hail from Galle, Ratgama, Boosa, Yakkalamulla, and Angulugaha areas. Galle police has presented a report to the Galle magistrate, outlining the charge of criminal breach of trust against the suspect.
Further investigations are being carried out by OIC Crime Investigation Unit CI Pulasthi Soyza and SI Udaya Kantha, following the directives of HQI Galle police S.S. Jayaweera, with the aim of arresting the suspect.
