The self-proclaimed 'Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva,' Mahinda Kodituwakku, has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Pannipitiya.
He is facing charges related to engaging in activities deemed irreligious and contradictory to Buddhist teachings.
Last Friday (12), the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court imposed a restriction on Kodituwakku's overseas travel.
The arrest follows a complaint filed earlier this week by Ven. Agulugalle Sri Jinananda Thero, the president of the Buddhist Information Centre, alleging that Kodituwakku has been misleading the Buddhist community.
