Chief Government Whip Prasanna Ranatunga informed Parliament today that a total sum of Rs. 220 million has been distributed to the families of individuals who lost their lives in the Easter Sunday bomb attacks. 

Responding to an oral question posed by MP Mayantha Dissanayake, the Minister highlighted the government's commitment to supporting the affected families.

In addition to the financial assistance, a scholarship scheme has been implemented to benefit the children of the Easter Sunday bomb victims. Minister Ranatunga stated that a significant amount, totaling one million rupees, has been allocated for monthly assistance to the children. The beneficiaries of this initiative are recommended by 'Seth Sarana,' the social service arm of the Sri Lankan Catholic church.

The Minister also emphasized the provision of assistance to the family members of those who lost their lives in the bomb attack on the Zion church in Batticloa.
