Nearly 100000 people have been affected due to the inclement weather experienced in North Central, Eastern and Uva provinces.
DMC said that 3 persons have been reported dead and another reported missing following the heavy rains experienced in these provinces .
Large no of persons have been relocated to safety locations.The DMC said these people living in 11 administrative districts had been affected by various disasters such as heavy rain, landslides, lightning, floods and road cut failures.
After checking the road with the police today (12), the Batticaloa - Polonnaruwa main road has been opened this morning and currently only big buses and big lorries can travel on this road, Polonnaruwa District Assistant Director said.
Several trains have been canceled due to flooding as a result of the heavy rains experienced yesterday11th .
Udaya Devi plying from Fort to Trincomalee via Batticaloa and the train from Batticaloa to Fort today 12th have also been canceled.
