In the wake of relentless rainfall today, several train services have been halted due to widespread flooding, causing inconvenience for commuters across the region.

The Railway Department announced the cancellation of two crucial night-mail trains originally scheduled to operate between Batticaloa and Colombo. The suspension of these services has left many travelers stranded, grappling with the unforeseen disruption in their travel plans.

Notably, the express train "Udaya Devi," running from Colombo-Fort to Trincomalee via Batticaloa, has also been temporarily taken out of service. This decision, aimed at ensuring passenger safety, reflects the severity of the flooding affecting the railway tracks.
