The Irrigation Department has issued a flood warning for downstream areas of the Gal Oya, as the Senanayaka Samudraya reaches its spill level.
Anticipating an increase in spillway discharge from this evening, residents and vehicle drivers in Polwaththa, Pahalalanda, Irakkamam, Akkaraipattu, Addalachchenai, Alayadiwembu, Sammanthurai, Karthiv, Ninthavur, Sainthamarudu, Kalmunai, and the South Eastern University Area at Oluvil are advised to take adequate precautions to minimize potential flood-related damages.
