Parliament member Shan Wijayalal de Silva faced a denial of entry into the parliamentary chambers due to a breach of dress code procedures.
The Sergeant-at-Arms, Narendra Fernando, revealed that the MP arrived wearing an apron resembling those worn by chefs.
Fernando informed reporters that when questioned about his attire, MP de Silva explained that he lacked the appropriate black shirts and trousers as mandated for the day.
All members of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) had been instructed to wear black outfits on Tuesday, further adding to the peculiarity of the situation.
