A Chinese couple has been apprehended by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Sri Lanka as they attempted to leave the country with a stash of 175 gemstones valued at approximately Rs. 50 million.
The duo now faces legal repercussions and is set to be handed over to Sri Lanka Customs for further investigation and appropriate actions regarding unpaid taxes.
