Colombo, Sri Lanka – In a move to bolster diplomatic and economic ties, Japanese Finance Minister, Suzuki Shunichi, is set to embark on an official visit to Sri Lanka from January 11 to 12.
The visit holds strategic importance as Minister Shunichi is scheduled to engage in official discussions with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Sabry. The conversations are expected to focus on enhancing collaboration in various sectors, fostering economic partnerships, and solidifying the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
During the visit, Minister Shunichi, accompanied by his delegation, will have the opportunity to explore key institutions in Sri Lanka. The itinerary includes visits to Parliament, the Jayawardene Centre, Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital, Colombo Dockyard, and the Lanka Nippon Biztec Institute in Maharagma. These interactions aim to deepen mutual understanding and lay the groundwork for future cooperation between Japan and Sri Lanka in areas such as technology, healthcare, and education.
