The Wattala Police arrested a 47-year-old man for breaking into the residence of Minister Harin Fernando's sister.
The thief made away with gold and diamond jewelry valued at over Rs. 11.3 million. The theft, reported on January 2nd, occurred while the residents were asleep, prompting an investigation.
Initially, the police detained the suspect's wife and daughter at a residence in the Oliamulla area of Peliyagoda. Subsequently, the main suspect was arrested, and the stolen jewelry was recovered. In addition to the theft, the police found 13 grams of heroin in the possession of the suspect.
All three suspects, including the main perpetrator, are scheduled to appear before the Welisara Magistrate Court.
