The police have arrested three individuals for their alleged involvement in the abduction, assault, and gang-rape of a 15-year-old schoolgirl in Kattankudy.
Police said the suspects reportedly abducted the girl while she was on her way to meet her boyfriend in the area. Subsequently, the perpetrators transported her to the Ariyampati area last Friday, where she was subjected to assault and gang rape.
The arrest of the suspects followed a formal complaint lodged with the police. Investigations revealed that the detained individuals are afflicted by drug addiction.
The suspects, aged between 26 and 32 years and residents of Ariampathi, were slated to appear before the court yesterday (8).
