The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) reported that heavy rains in two provinces of Sri Lanka have impacted a total of 2,208 individuals, spanning 650 families.
In its latest situation report, the DMC outlined that 1,908 people from 575 families in the Badulla district have been adversely affected by flash floods.
In addition, approximately 290 people in the Kandy district have also felt the impact of the inclement weather.
Tragically, one fatality has been reported as a consequence of these natural disasters.
Efforts to mitigate the impact of the adverse weather conditions include relocating 1,136 individuals from 349 families to fifteen designated safe locations. Moreover, 88 houses have incurred partial damage, and three houses have been entirely destroyed.
