Minister of Power & Energy Kanchana Wijesekera has issued stern disciplinary measures against Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) employees linked to the recent three-day trade union strike, causing significant service disruptions.
The minister has instructed the CEB's chairman to implement necessary actions in accordance with legal provisions, which may involve suspending duties for employees found actively participating in the protest that unfolded from January 3 to 5.
The trade union action primarily centered on opposing the restructuring of the state-owned electricity supplier and expressing concerns about the newly presented Electricity Bill in Parliament.
