Drug trafficking scandal unveiled in Pallekele Prison

The Kandy Division Crime Investigation Unit has received that six prison guards of the Pallekele Prison in Dumbara are addicted drugs and they are carrying out drug trafficking in the prison.

The arrest of a notorious drug peddler, widely known as "Dangolle Kudu Nayna," has brought these shocking revelations to light. During police interrogation, Kudu Nayna disclosed the involvement of six prison guards in the drug trafficking racket, shedding light on the extent of the illicit activities taking place behind bars.

The police, acting on this information, detained Kudu Nayna under a detention order to further investigate the matter. The suspect divulged crucial details during questioning, indicating that the implicated jail guards not only facilitated the drug trade but were also users themselves. Allegedly, they were purchasing more than 15 grams of heroin from Kudu Nayna on a monthly basis.

Accordingly, several jail guards had been summoned to the Police to record statements in this regard.
