Commissioner of Prisons and Media Spokesman Gamini B. Dissanayake confirmed the incident and revealed that immediate steps have been taken to prevent the potential spread of the illness within the prison.
In response to the health crisis, Commissioner Dissanayake announced that as a precautionary measure, new inmates destined for Matara Prison will be rerouted to Angunakolapelessa Prison.
