Parliament granted approval to a resolution initiating the VAT amendment debate with a majority of 51 votes.
Out of the 133 members present, 92 voted in favor, while 41 opposed. Notably, 91 members were absent, and Sudarshani Fernandopulle abstained from voting.
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced that the debate on VAT amendment, along with discussions on the expenditure heads of fisheries and irrigation, is scheduled for today.
