In response to the increased risk of landslides along the Badulla-Colombo main road (route no. 99), authorities have implemented restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles between Hali Ela and Uduwara until further notice.

The announcement was made today by the Badulla District Disaster Management Centre (DMC). Motorists are strongly advised to find alternative routes from Hali Ela via Etampitiya to Bandarawela, as stated by the police authorities.

This measure aims to ensure the safety of all road users amidst the ongoing landslide threats.

Starting tomorrow, all long-distance passenger transport buses will be required to utilize the alternate routes. This decision was made during a meeting held to address the current situation.

Authorities are taking necessary precautions to mitigate the risks and guarantee the safety of motorists and passengers.
