In a recent update, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) announced that power supply has been successfully restored to several areas that were affected by the major outages earlier today.

Efforts are currently underway to restore power to all other areas as quickly as possible.

The CEB has estimated that it will take approximately two hours to fully restore the interrupted electricity supply.

The outages were caused by a breakdown in the transmission line between Kotmale and Biyagama earlier this evening (09 Dec.). Residents across the country experienced widespread power cuts due to the transmission line issue. This prompted immediate action from the CEB, which swiftly worked to resolve the problem and restore power to affected areas.
