The Colombo Crime Investigation Division intercepts 31,750 capsules and 259 packets of illegal aphrodisiacs smuggled into the country during a raid in Keselwatta.
During a meticulously planned operation triggered by intelligence provided by OIC Western Province Anti-Vice Squad SI Buddhika Rajapakse, police arrested a 46-year-old businessman in connection with the illegal smuggling. The suspect, a resident of the area, was taken into custody as the police seized the consignment, suspected to have been smuggled from India via sea routes.
Upon interrogation, the detained suspect disclosed that his intention was to sell the seized stock of aphrodisiacs to another individual within the country.
The suspect to be produced before the Maligakanda magistrate on charges of illegal possession and trafficking of aphrodisiacs.
