Constitutional Council approves appointment of Acting IGP

The Constitutional Council has approved the designation of Deshabandu Tennakoon as the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP). 

This endorsement, issued on Friday (Dec. 01), follows Tennakoon's formal assumption of his responsibilities on the morning of November 30, occurring just a day after his appointment.

Having previously held the position of Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) overseeing the Western Province, Tennakoon faces significant responsibilities in his role as the interim IGP.
