A 32-year-old inmate, identified as an underworld member, wreaked havoc at Boossa High Security Prison by smashing 23 CCTV cameras during an outdoor break.
The prison authorities have lodged a complaint with the Rathgama Police regarding the incident.
According to police, when the prisoner was taken out of the cell for some sunlight and ventilation, the inmate had climbed on the wall and destroyed the CCTV cameras installed inside and outside the cell where he is being held.
There are 13 cases pending before courts against the inmate related to drug trafficking and extortion.
