Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces after 2.00 p.m. today, the Department of Meteorology said.

Several spells of showers may occur in Northern and Eastern provinces.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the morning.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Condition of Rain:

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas around the island particularly during the afternoon or night.

Winds:

Winds will be North-easterly or variable in direction.

Wind speed will be (30-40) kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Kankasanthurai. Wind speed will be (20-30) kmph in the other sea areas around the island.

State of Sea:

The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Kankasanthurai will be moderate and slight in the other sea areas around the island.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
