According to a recent report from a Parliamentary Committee, there have been 168 reported cases of child sexual abuse in the month of September. Shockingly, 22 girls under the age of 16 have also become pregnant during this time.
The Committee on Public Finance held a special discussion in Parliament, inviting representatives from various civil organizations, including the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD).
The purpose of the discussion was to gather ideas and suggestions regarding the budget proposals for the year 2024 and the policies to be implemented in the country.
During the discussion, the representatives of civil society organizations emphasized the urgent need for a systematic program to provide sex education to children. They stressed that this would help address the concerning issue of child sexual abuse.
Moreover, the committee turned its attention to identifying the number of school girls in need of essential facilities, such as sanitary facilities. They aimed to develop a system to ensure that these girls receive the necessary support and resources.
The representatives from civil organizations also took the opportunity to brief the committee on the challenges arising from the lack of attention given to women's welfare, as well as the difficulties faced by school girls
