A group of eight Sri Lankan fishermen from the Kalpitiya and Kandakuliya regions has been arrested by Indian authorities for entering Indian territorial waters.
According to a senior official from the Sri Lanka Navy, these fishermen had ventured into Indian waters and were engaged in fishing activities when they were detained by the Indian Coast Guard.
Subsequently, their four boats and fishing equipment have also been confiscated.
