A multi-day fishing vessel and five suspects were arrested at Dondra Point with more than 200 kilograms of heroin, estimated to be worth over Rs. 4 billion.
The multi-day fishing vessel was seized in a deep-sea operation conducted collaboratively by the Intelligence Division of the Sri Lanka Navy and the Police Narcotics Bureau.
This morning, both the suspects and the confiscated heroin were brought to the Dondra Point fishing port.
Ongoing investigations are being jointly conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy and the Police Narcotics Bureau, the Navy said.
