The Court of Appeal has once more postponed its judgment regarding the writ petition filed, seeking an order to declare State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage as unqualified to be a Member of Parliament due to her British citizenship.
The judgment for this petition, initially scheduled for delivery today (October 18), was instead listed as a matter to be mentioned.
A two-judge bench of the Court of Appeal, consisting of Justice (President) Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne and Justice Chamath Morais, announced that the judgment for this petition will now be delivered on October 31.
Social activist Oshala Herath filed this petition, requesting a Writ of Quo Warranto to declare that Diana Gamage is disqualified to hold the office of a Member of Parliament.
Counsel Hafeel Farisz represented the petitioner, while President's Counsel Shavindra Fernando appeared for Diana Gamage.
