The Constitutional Council has issued a call for applications to appoint members to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
As per the announcement by the Communications Department of Parliament, the council is seeking three qualified individuals to be recommended as members of the Bribery Commission.
These applications are being invited in accordance with the provisions outlined in Article 41B of the Constitution and the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023.
Applicants are required to possess expertise and demonstrate eminence, along with a minimum of 20 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: law, crime investigation and law enforcement, forensic auditing, forensic accounting, engineering, international relations and diplomatic services, public affairs management, or public administration.
Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka and should not be older than 62 years of age at the time of their appointment to the Bribery Commission.
Once appointed, members of the Bribery Commission are prohibited from engaging in any business or pursuing a profession. They are also obliged to declare their assets and liabilities to the Constitutional Council in accordance with prevailing laws before taking office as a member of the Commission. A general disclosure of their interests as of the date of their appointment must also be submitted to the Constitutional Council.
Completed application forms should be sent to the "Secretary-General to the Constitutional Council, Parliament of Sri Lanka, Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte" via registered post or to "[email protected]" via email. The deadline for submitting applications is November 6, 2023.
