Police arrest husband, wife over assault of woman in viral video

A 36-year-old couple, a husband and wife, has been arrested by the Kandana Police after a video showing a woman being assaulted in a private institution went viral on social media.

Police said the incident had taken place in a private institution at Aniyakanda Road, Nagoda in Kandana on October 3.

The police launched investigations on the basis of information received on police emergency number 118.

Accordingly, these suspects were arrested at Lipton Road, Nagoda by the Kandana Police last night.

Investigations revealed that the arrested suspect is a close relative of the woman who was assaulted.

The husband and wife have been running a business of trading goods online in the Aniyakanda area, and investigationd have revealed that the woman who was assaulted has been staying at this relative's home for about three years and working in the relevant company.
