The International Conference on Gender Equality, which is organized for the first time by the Gender Equality Unit of the Faculty of Humanities and Sociology of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, is being held today 12th.
It is the vice chancellor of that university, senior professor Pathmalal M. Under the chairmanship of Mr. Manage and with the participation of the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Sociology, Professor Shiranta Heenkenda, at the Sanatana Sabhasadma of the University.
The keynote speech on this day will be delivered by Dr. Akiko Nakayama of Hiroshima University, Japan and the speakers of the opening session will be Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana, Honored Writer Sunethra Rajakarunanayake, Capital Maharaja Group Director Shewan Daniel and National Hospital Senior Nurse Pushpa Ramya. The International Research Conference on Gender Studies aims to provide a platform for academics, undergraduates, organizations, and communities to come together to discuss, share knowledge, and promote awareness of issues related to gender to promote greater understanding, dialogue, and action around issues related to gender, and to work towards creating a more equitable and inclusive world for all individuals, regardless of their gender.
The conference theme is ‘Towards a Society of Equal Opportunity’ and will cover topics of Gender and Crime, Gender and Society, Gender, Culture and Religion, Gender and Politics, Gender-Based Violence, Gender Equity and Equality, Gender and Education, Gender and Health and LGBTIQ.
