Matara District Secretary Y.Wickramasiri said Low lying areas in the Matara Divisional Secretariat will be inundated in the next two hours, if the water levels exceed the bund in the area.
He instructed area residents to immediately seek shelter in the safe camps established in the Matara district.

More than 54,000 individuals in 13 districts have been affected due to inclement weather in recent days across the country.
According to the latest situation report issued by the DMC, 728 houses have been damaged due to bad weather.
Around 199 affected families have been relocated to safe shelters.
