Heavy rains over 100mm on the cards in several areas

Heavy showers, above 100 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Accordingly, the prevailing showery condition in south-western part of the island is likely to continue further due to active southwest monsoon conditions over the island.

The department has also  issued an ‘Amber’ level advisory for heavy rains over 100mm in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces.
