A heartbreaking incident occurred at the Pussellawa Hindu National School where a 14-year-old boy lost his life after being struck by a ceiling fan in a classroom.
The incident took place yesterday following a ceremony held at the school.
According to the police investigation, the tragic accident unfolded while the young student was playing with his peers. He sustained injuries when a ceiling fan struck him as he attempted to climb onto a table in the classroom, using a chair for support.
The deceased child was identified as a resident of Pupurassa.
The body of the young boy has been placed in the mortuary at Gampola Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place.
The Pussellawa Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
