The mother of organized criminal Sanjeewa Samarathna, also known as 'Ganemulla Sanjeewa,' who is currently in police custody, has filed a writ petition with the Court of Appeal.

She is seeking an order to prevent her son from being placed under the jurisdiction of multiple police teams, including the Police Special Task Force.

The respondents in the petition include Gampaha Senior Superintendent of Police, the Commanding Officer of the Police Special Task Force, the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, the Director of the Terrorist Investigation Bureau, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Western Province, Deshbandu Tennakoon, and several others.

In her petition, the mother claims that her son is currently in the custody of the Weeragula Police. She expresses concern that transferring her son into the custody of the accused officers for investigation may put his life in danger.
