The current showery condition in the south-western part of the island will persist, according to the Meteorology Department.
Showers or thundershowers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Some areas in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces may experience fairly heavy showers exceeding 75mm.
During the evening or night, showers or thundershowers are likely to occur in several places in the Eastern and Uva provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa and Mullaitivu districts.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize any damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
In the sea areas, showers or thundershowers are expected at times off the coast from Puttalam to Pottuvil, including Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota. Heavy showers may occur in some areas off the coast from Colombo to Pottuvil, via Galle and Hambantota.
