In a tragic incident last night, four elephants lost their lives after being struck by the night mail train en route from Colombo to Kankesanthurai.

The incident reported between the Ambanpola and Galgamuwa Railway Stations at approximately 11:50 PM last night.

Accordingly, three elephants lost their lives on the spot, while one succumbed to its injuries during the early hours of this morning.
