The Commissioner General of Excise has interdicted four Excise officers who were arrested for allegedly assaulting and soliciting a bribe from a 'Beedi' manufacturer in Walasmulla. This decision comes following instructions from State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.
The four Excise officers, including the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Tangalle Excise station, have been placed on interdiction due to allegations of assaulting and soliciting a bribe from a 'Beedi' manufacturer.
The alleged offenses stem from the manufacturer's possession of Beedi leaves without a valid license.
