Expressing his stance on the 'Easter Sunday' terrorist attack archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said that an investigation into the tragic event should be conducted with utmost transparency, free from any political interference.

During the golden jubilee celebration of St. Michael’s Church in Embilipitiya, Cardinal Ranjith asserted that if leaders in positions of authority uphold integrity and refrain from shielding one another under political pressures, there would be no necessity for international intervention.

He stressed the importance of using transparent methods to uncover the truth.

Furthermore, the Archbishop raised questions about the former President's prior knowledge of the Easter Sunday attack and why no preventive action was taken. He emphasized the need to understand the underlying reasons.

In contrast, Ven. Dr. Omalpe Sobitha Thero, also speaking at the event, argued that an international investigation is essential if the country lacks the means to bring the perpetrators to justice effectively.
