Two individuals lost their lives while three others sustained critical injuries in a head-on collision between a private bus and a trishaw.
The accident took place in the Galewela Beligamuwa area on the Kurunegala Dambulla main road.
The collision occurred when a private bus, traveling from Jaffna to Embilipitiya, collided head-on with a trishaw that was en route from the Arachchikattuwa area to Dambulla.
The impact of the collision resulted in the immediate fatalities of two individuals who were passengers in the trishaw.
Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, and an injured woman, a man, and a 6-year-old boy were initially rushed to Galewela Hospital.
However, due to the severity of their injuries, they were later transferred to Dambulla Hospital for further medical treatment. One of the injured men required additional medical attention and was subsequently transferred to the National Hospital in Kandy.
Authorities are currently conducting investigations to determine the cause of this tragic accident.
