Two persons have been arrested on suspicion of aiding the police constable who was involved in the escape attempt of the notorious criminal figure and drug kingpin, known as "Harak Kata," at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) recently.
Police said the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) made the arrest.
The organized criminal gang leader, Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne, alias "Harak Kata," reportedly attempted to flee from the custody of the CID on September 10.
According to the CID, 'Harak Kata' had received assistance from a particular police constable, who absconded shortly after the incident.
On September 18, the mother and brother-in-law of the police constable were taken into custody. The police have also obtained a 90-day detention period to interrogate them further.
