Three individuals have been arrested for assaulting a doctor due to a denial of permission to visit a patient undergoing treatment at the hospital beyond the scheduled visiting hours.
Police said a group of four individuals arrived at Wattegama Hospital with the intention of visiting the patient in question. However, the attending doctor, at the time, declined permission, leading to a heated argument between the two parties.
The police further revealed that the doctor was subsequently assaulted by the individuals involved and was subsequently admitted to Wattegama Hospital, before being transferred to Kandy Hospital for further medical attention.
The three arrested suspects, all residents of Wattegama, are to be produced in court.
