Dayasiri Jayasekara, a member of parliament, has been ousted from his position as General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

Jayasekara was notified of his removal through a letter issued by SLFP Chairman and former President Maithripala Sirisena.

The letter states that Jayasekara's party membership has been immediately suspended, thereby preventing him from continuing in his role as SLFP General Secretary.

Furthermore, the letter mentions that disciplinary measures will be taken against Jayasekara based on multiple allegations made against him.

Jayasekara himself has confirmed that he received a letter informing him of his removal as General Secretary and the suspension of his party membership.

In the meantime, media reports indicate that Sarath Ekanayaka, the Deputy General Secretary of the SLFP, has been appointed as the Acting General Secretary of the party.
