The suspension imposed on the Football Federation of Sri Lanka by FIFA has been lifted by the Bureau of FIFA Council.
This decision will take immediate effect.
FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation will continue to closely monitor the upcoming election of the Sri Lanka Football Federation, which is scheduled to take place on September 29th.
Back in January, FIFA suspended the Football Federation of Sri Lanka due to government interference. The suspension had been in effect since January 21st.
In December 2022, FIFA expressed concerns over the electoral roadmap of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka and issued a red notice to local football authorities.
The Secretary of FIFA announced the suspension of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka in accordance with Article 16 of the FIFA Statutes.
