A tragic incident unfolded in Negombo's Lellama area as a young individual succumbed to injuries sustained during a shooting.
The victim, a 25-year-old resident from Pitipana, was receiving treatment at the Negombo Hospital when he passed away this afternoon.
According to local authorities, the incident occurred when two unidentified gunmen arrived on a motorbike, opening fire on the youth before hastily fleeing the scene. The severity of his injuries necessitated immediate admission to the Negombo Hospital, but sadly, medical efforts proved futile.
Investigations are currently underway by the Dungalpitiya police to determine the motive behind the incident.
